Key Learnings
Laws of Motion, I - Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a right line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it.
Laws of Motion, II - The alternation of motion is ever proportional to the motive force impressed; and is made in the direction of the right line in which that force is impressed.
Laws of Motion, III - To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction; or, the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts.
Godliness consists in the knowledge love and worship of God, Humanity in love, righteousness and good offices towards man.
The time times and half time do not end before 2060. .... It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner..
To explain all nature is too difficult a task for any one man or even for any one age. 'Tis much better to do a little with certainty, and leave the rest for others that come after you, than to explain all things by conjecture without making sure of any thing.
I keep the subject constantly before me, and wait 'till the first dawnings open slowly, by little and little, into a full and clear light.
God created everything by number, weight and measure.
Rational mechanics must be the science of the motions which result from any forces, and of the forces which are required for any motions, accurately propounded and demonstrated.
I do not define time, space, place, and motion, as being well known to all. Only I must observe, that the common people conceive those quantities under no other notions but from the relation they bear to sensible objects. And thence arise certain prejudices, for the removing of which it will be convenient to distinguish them into absolute and relative, true and apparent, mathematical and common.
From The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy - He is Eternal and Infinite, Omnipotent and Omniscient; that is, his duration reaches from Eternity to Eternity; his presence from Infinity to Infinity; he governs all things, and knows all things that are or can be done. He is not Eternity or Infinity, but Eternal and Infinite; he is not Duration or Space, but he endures and is present. He endures for ever, and is every where present; and by existing always and every where, he constitutes Duration and Space.
The other part of the true religion is our duty to man. We must love our neighbour as our selves, we must be charitable to all men for charity is the greatest of graces, greater then even faith or hope and covers a multitude of sins. We must be righteous and do to all men as we would they should do to us.
The Circle is a Geometrical Line, not because it may be express'd by an Æquation, but because its Description is a Postulate. It is not the Simplicity of the Æquation, but the Easiness of the Description, which is to determine the Choice of our Lines for the Construction of Problems.
Geometry was invented that we might expeditiously avoid, by drawing Lines, the Tediousness of Computation.
The Simplicity of Figures depend upon the Simplicity of their Genesis and Ideas, and an Æquation is nothing else than a Description (either Geometrical or Mechanical) by which a Figure is generated and rendered more easy to the Conception.
Quotes - Gyan

“I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people.”
“Errors are not in the art but in the artificers.”
“Truth is ever to be found in simplicity, and not in the multiplicity and confusion of things.”
