UGC Declares 20 Universities as 'Fake', Warns Students
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 20 universities as "fake" and not empowered to confer any degree. The list of fake universities was released on the UGC's website on August 2, 2023.
The universities on the list are located in various states across India, including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The UGC has warned students against enrolling in any of the fake universities on the list. Degrees awarded by these universities will not be recognized by the UGC or any other legitimate accreditation body.
Students who have already enrolled in any of the fake universities are advised to immediately withdraw from their programs and seek admission to a legitimate university.
